Commonly known as the "Forbidden Rice", black rice originates from Ancient China, where a black variant of rice was consumed by a host of Chinese kinsmen for the betterment of kidneys, stomach, and liver. Today it is hailed for its higher levels of fibre and antioxidants than white rice. Black Rice is said to have benefits for blood sugar management and liver detoxification.
Rinse well. Place rice and water in tight-lid pot and bring to boil – about 2 cups water per 1 cup rice. Simmer until tender. Fluff rice before serving.
