The Bialetti Moka showcases 80 years of classic design elegance and technological simplicity. The Moka produces a rich authentic espresso in just minutes. The aluminum pot features Bialetti's distinctive eight-sided shape that allows it to diffuse heat perfectly to enhance the aroma of your coffee. The flavour of Moka pot coffee depends not only on the beans but also the level of heat used. Moka pots are sometimes referred to as stove top espresso makers and produce coffee with an extraction ratio similar to that of a conventional espresso machine. The resultant brew has increased extraction of caffeine and flavours from the grounds versus filter coffee resulting in a stronger brew than that obtained by drip brew methods. We stock the 4 cup, 6 cup and 9 cup Moka pots.
The cup size referenced within the Bialetti range is determined by a standard Italian cup size which is significantly smaller than what South African coffee drinkers are used to (approximately 180ml vs 250ml). We stock the Bialetti 4 cup, 6 cup and 9 cup Moka pots.
Interesting fact about Moka Pots: A typical Moka coffee is extracted at relatively low pressures of 1 to 2 bar while standards for espresso coffee specify a pressure of 9 bar. Therefore Moka coffee is not considered to be a true espresso and has different flavour characteristics.
