Easy Snack Recipe With Widely Available Ingredients

Why Organic Raisins?

Does organic really matter when it comes to raisins? YES! Raisins, like most dried fruit, are normally heavily preserved with sulfur dioxide. Sulfur dioxide is an allergen that many people react to and ideally should be avoided where possible. The sulfur dioxide makes the raisins last longer but also makes them dryer and tougher. How To Make Cinnamon and Raisin Butter

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups raisins
  • 2 medium ripe pears, peeled, cored and cut into 3cm pieces (apples also work well)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water

 

Method:

  1. Place all ingredients into a large pan. Bring to the boil.
  2. Once boiled, reduce heat and allow to simmer for 20 minutes or until pears/apples are transparent and soft, and raisins are plump.
  3. Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool.
  4. Add mixture to a food processor and process until smooth.
  5. Pour mixture into a jar and store for up to 3 weeks in the fridge.

 

Serve on toast with cream cheese, feta or nut butter – delicious!!
