As much as the marketing will tell you otherwise and the packaging looks amazing, hot chocolate really is just cocoa and sugar with milk, usually in powder form. Obviously, the way we buy it these days means it has to be packed, transported, stored, stand on shelf for months, compete with other manufacturers of the same product and still be suitable for use, so manufacturers have to add a few more ingredients and process steps.
