Tucking into a delicious breakfast smoothie bowl as a healthy breakfast option is rising in popularity, for good reason. They are often delicious and a quick and easy way to pack maximum nutrition into your morning routine. This recipe is just that! On top of requiring no cooking and almost no prep, it also contains no added sugar and is delicious enough to serve as a pudding! An absolute winner.

Benefits Of This Smoothie Bowl Recipe

This recipe contains dates, almonds, maca powder and cacao powder. Ingredients that all rank pretty high on the superfood list.

Dates add natural sweetness and are packed with iron. Almonds are high in unsaturated fats (good fats), vitamin E and minerals. Maca Powder is often referred to as the Peruvian ginseng and is well known for its energy-boosting, pick-me-up properties. Cacao powder is packed with antioxidants with a rich chocolatey flavour - YUM! You can see why this breakfast smoothie bowl recipe is bound to be a winner!

How to Make This Delicious Breakfast Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients:

 

Method:

  1. Soak almonds, dates and oats in water in the fridge overnight separately.
  2. In the morning drain the almonds and place all ingredients, together with the maca powder, cacao powder and bananas or avo in a blender.
  3. Blend until smooth.
  4. Add toppings as desired and enjoy.

It’s literally that easy! This recipe can be served in a bowl or add more water to the mix for a thinner, more drinkable smoothie.

Topping Suggestions:

You could really add anything to this smoothie and it would still takes amazing. But, if you are looking for topping suggestions are personal favourites are (all are optional):

  • Fresh fruit
  • Berries – dried or fresh
  • Banana slices
  • Cacao nibs
  • Coconut chips
  • Almond flakes
  • Granola
  • Puffed grains
  • Yoghurt
